Salute to the oldies

I have to say, the old movies are awesome. Why do people have to make remakes? I mean, Tron didn't have the most amazing special FX, but did they have to make a movie with ten times the visual stuff just to trump the old movie? I mean they have remade True Grit! That movie was perfect! and it had John Wayne in it! You can't just replace John Wayne! I think, that the old movies that were really good, should be left to shine as older, yet awesome beacons of true movie entertainment. Society is alway raising the bar for entertainment. People are always wanting more and more special FX in the movie, for that extra big explosion or whatever... I mean... look at Avatar. I like the new movies and all, I mean, who doesn't like a good Terminator movie (Salvation doesn't count... and ya Terminator isn't really new.) but as technology progresses, so to does our need for more spectacular FX in movies. Back to the Future didn't have the best FX but it was one of the best movies I've ever seen! (even though it's plot line is rather confusing) I'm just saying, I hope that in the future, that special FX aren't considered more important than the actors that brought so much to the film by just being there.

  1. Agreed...for example, The Chronicles of Narnia. The old movies are way better than the newer ones (with the exception of the Pevensies and the different creatures like Reepicheep looking better).
